What is Mechanical Extract Fan Testing?

Mechanical Extract Fan Testing measures the airflow performance of bathroom, kitchen and utility extract systems to ensure they meet the required ventilation rates set out in UK legislation.

Testing is carried out in accordance with Building Regulations Part F and the guidance provided in Approved Document F.

This process confirms that intermittent fans and continuous systems (such as MEV units) are extracting air at the correct rates (litres per second / m³ per hour), helping to prevent condensation, damp and mould.
